>OTOH, you may get a youn1gster who hasn't ever clocked a honest workday, been in politics all the time. The only thing he knows is how to play the system.

>This sounds like Obama to me <g>. The only real job he ever had was as a community organizer - he never even ran a hot dog stand.

No....but I'm sure he walked past the local hot dog stands and lemonade stands and said, "You didn't build that" :)

His actual work record leaves something to be desired. It's no wonder that the media touts him as "brilliant" because they are clearly trying to mask a paper-thin level of experience.

In the Senate, he had a very bad absentee record. He even received a hard scolding from Harry Reid.

At the law firm where he worked, multiple sources stated that he actually worked limited hours on actual cases...one of which was representing a "slum-lord". (In fairness, it was the firm's client, so maybe he didn't have a choice). The people who worked at the firm complained that he'd often be found in his office, feet up on the desk, working on his book.

Going back further, his student evaluation scores as a professor towards the end of his time as a teacher were quite poor. (He was popular at first, but increasing unpopular after that). Students comments that he showed lackluster interest, was frequently behind in reviewing papers and tests, and wasn't into the details. His peers at the time felt he was unimpressive.

Even being president/editor of the Harvard Law Review begins the question of why he never wrote a bylined piece as editor of the law review. Many have come forward to say that they felt Obama won favor because he told people he was from Kenya. (Note: for anyone reading who feels like replying with a "Birther" remark, I have believed for years that he was born in the U.S. My point is that there's a long trail of people who feel he verbally pushed the Kenyan birth to receive favors normally given to people born outside this country).

He has described himself (on more than one occasion) as lazy. Those are his words. I think the American people have seen enough to concur. Even his "fans" are critical of him being so disengaged from reality. But what irks me the most is when his fan base equates legitimate criticism with personal/racial/religious attacks on him. He seems like a good parent (much more so than the Palin family circus) and maybe he's a good man - but he is completely incapable of running a country or even following through on his ideas (or even finding the right people to follow through on his ideas).

While there can be exceptions, as a general guideline I think a president should have at least one full-term experience as a governor. Doesn't mean a full-term governor will be better - but at least they've had some level of experience as an executive.
