Right, and the Republican Party has its highest approval rating ever. Or maybe not.

You'll have to look long and hard to find me saying much of anything positive about the Republican party, and you know it. You know that I am not religious and generally pro-choice, so that puts me at strong odds with most of the R's. But the truth is that right now, the D's are generally shaking more, and some of the ones up for reelection next year are feeling very uncomfortable.

The few brief glimpses of hope, like Rand Paul, just lead to disappointment when learning things like the fact he and his father are trying to convince libertarians in Virginia to drop their governor vote for the libertarian candidate (Robert Sarvis, who has been carrying about 8-10% of the vote) in favor of an apocalyptically bad Republican in Ken Cuccinelli (and his running mate. E.W. Jackson).

That race is a mess - Cuccinelli is obsessed with sodomy laws, his opponent (Terry McAuliffe) is a political DNC bag man, and the libertarian candidate (while there are individual things about him I like) has no chance. Cuccinelli's only chance to win is based on the level of current discontent with ACHA - scary for the Democrats who would hate to see the state governed by a Republican, and not much of an inspiration for anyone to the right of center who gets frustrated when the R's give sound bytes on a platter (a la Todd Akin) to the liberal media, as Cuccinelli certainly has and surely will continue to.
