Hi Y'all

2000: A Data Odyssey

....and in those dark days of the last year of the 20th century, there was great turmoil in the land. Hordes of Visual Basic programmers went feral as their minds could not handle the new data requirements without madness; Access developers sought mindless refuge in Office2000. Delphites took to the hills to wage guerilla war with the badly organized and vulnerable VB minions.

Civility remained in the ranks of the Visual FoxPro faithful -- who also charitably protected the remaining FoxPro 2.x adherants against unscrupuluous attacks by the evil Y2K police.

COBOL coders toiled ceaselessly in dark dungeons of big iron, patching, patching......ever patching to maintain the tenuous link to true automation that the legacy systems needed to glue together society.

VFP folks adopted a secret recognition code. In street passings, they would hold up four fingers to denote the proper CENTURY setting and whisper "StrictDate" as they glided by each other.

Oh, great woe there was on those days. When 2-digit date programmers were torn limb from limb, black-shirted Y2K Police auditors throwing legacy systems from high windows.....

(Definite tongue-in-cheek here, guys)
