While doing my MBA, we studied a phenomenon called the Veblen (sp?) effect. It was postulated that customers who perceived a higher valuation, quality, or performance were willing to pay alot more for the product even though there were many other products available that matched or surpassed that one. It is in the eye of the beholder...
