We give then a different URL. In fact, the test web and db servers are different machines than the production servers. You need some way for the user to know what database they're on at all times so they don't put test data into the production db and vice-versa.

I want to be able to give the users a choice of picking a test/demo database vs. a production database. I want the code base to obviously be the same, but the database selected to be different.
