>IMHO, and you can correct me if I am wrong, you are not the forum police. If Michel wants to make a rule that only technical content may be expressed in technical threads, that is certainly his prerogative. But it really is not up to you to decide what behavior is appropriate on the UT.

>Also, I always thought that the point of posting answers in any technical forum was to help the person who posed the question as well as any lurkers who might have the same question. I never for a moment believed that it was to gain recognition for oneself. At least, that was the reason that I answered questions in the days when I was more active on-line.

>Just my 2 cents. You may respond if you like, but this is the last thing I have to say on this subject. After all, I do not want to pollute a technical thread with any more non-technical posts <s>.

I will post this and then shut up in this thread.

Naomi is right that I should not keep making chatter remarks in technical threads. That is a valid point. I will make it a point to avoid doing so in the future.

And I regret unleashing such nasty thoughts in what should be a nice place.

I have always had a desire to write, plus the vanity to think I am good at it. Whether that's true or not, this is not the place for it. I will find another place to express those urges. There are plenty of writing communities. The late, great Elmore Leonard wrote that for him it always started with a character. He said I never start a book knowing how it will turn out. He said I start with a character and that character leads me to the last page. I am taking his advice and even have a character. So we'll see how it goes. I will keep it off in its own place, separate from the UT.

To avoid being coy, and this will be my last comment on this here, my character is female. As all female fictional characters should be, she is tall, busty, and has man problems and kid problems. She is smart, committed, and faithful to her friends to a fault. She is a private detective who has a new case she doesn't want to take at first. So there you go.
