>In Windows 8.1, I have created a D drive under VHD. Without doing anything, by default, from my main PC, trying to map a drive with the same account and password such as \\Computer\D$ would work. But, not on this one. I had to activate the share of that drive and I cannot assign it to D$ as it says it is already taken. I do not know where the D$ comes from. This is a brand new drive. So, when connecting with \\Computer\d, this gives me access but in read only. Of course, I can go ahead and apply permissions for full rights. But, I would like to avoid that. Usually, if I can use the d$ syntax, that will be better as I wouldn't have to apply the permissions at the drive level. How can I adjust this drive to be seen a D$ so the account of my main PC can have also full administrator access to that map drive once connected?
You can use NET SHARE to show what resource is currently using the D$ share name.
