You need to run SSMS with elevated rights. Yeah, I know you didn't want to hear that.

>I have a database from SQL Server 2008. I want to attach this database into a brand new SQL Server 2012 that I just installed on Windows 8.1 Enterprise. It says Access is denied. I wonder if this is related to OS security or a procedure that I have to do differently. Has anyone succeeded to simply attach a database as is from one version to another?
