>>Fine...once again, let's agree to set a standard.

My only interest is the one I stated: somebody making pronouncements without following due process, which is the clear statement in the article you linked. It also says he refused to acknowledge fault afterwards. IMHO this is nothing to do with what anybody thinks of the President, it's to do with organizational due process.

>>As I said earlier, many state commissioners are coming out with even stronger statements - I've read comments coming out of South Carolina and Washington state that make this one seem tame. Aw, what the heck (being facetious), just fire 'em all???

If they followed due process before launching into press, why would they be fired? If they burst into print without authority, then yes, they may find themselves in the same boat.

Imagine it yourself: you're in charge of an organization and suddenly one of your people roars out a criticism of a local dignitary. Even though you agree with him, you're concerned at the fact that you weren't given any say before the organization was tied to the statement. And when you broach it with the dude, he refuses to accept he did anything wrong.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
