In SQL Server 2012, something seems to have changed.
On this page:

"Well a named instance is identified by the name of the computer plus the instance name that you specify during installation SQL Server"
It does not seem possible to get rid of the computer name as part of the named instance and when we connect we have to include the ComputerName\SQLServerInstanceName.
Is this how your SQL Server 2012 installations are also used as far as the connect information for the proper way to connect to them?
