Walter, while speculation, I strongly believe that had all dozen polls 4 years ago and all dozen polls more recently come back with 55-70% of physicians supporting AHCA, neither of you would be saying a word about any conclusions that U.S. physicians support AHCA.

Draw your own conclusions on why I'd say that. :)

I have yet to see even a handful of polls (or even one) in this country with a positive trend on AHCA. Even when Obama won again in 2012, the support for the law wasn't impressive, and it's gone downward ever since.

The compelling factor here - confirmed by a friend of mine who is the former VP of sales and market for Coca Cola in the 1980's and early 1990's and an expert on statistics - is the pattern across a dozen surveys four years ago and more recently today. That was viewed as sufficient for a conversion/translation.


At risk of repetition, few people feel more strongly than I do that serious targeted legislation in U.S. health care is necessary If you think I talk tough on government, you should hear the four-letter words I use about insurance companies and what occurs with pre-existing conditions and prescriptions. But AHCA is bad medicine, period. This entire argument reminds me of all the false dichotomies in the world - in this case, the false conclusion that strong opposition to AHCA means that the old system was fine and didn't need serious work. Any law that's even a quarter as wide-reaching as AHCA requires a level of competence and efficiency that's light years ahead of what we have now.
