>>Back in the early 1970's, I wonder how many Archie Bunker-types were talking about the near daily "prophet of doom regurgitations" on the news regarding Nixon and Watergate. :)
Watergate is a discrete naughty event that is easy enough to understand without special insight. No problem with experts of either persuasion spouting forth on that one. But the healthcare arena is so fearsome it would make somebody say "Don't Fight it Marsha, it's bigger than both of us."

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
