>>>You may have missed my point, which was that no one should claim to know how successful health care reform will be before it even goes into effect.
>>
>>Legally it has gone into effect. Well, except for all the parts that have been either exempted (waivers) or delayed by executive decree. Clearly no one can claim knowledge of its success in the future, but at this point it is a disaster.
>>
>>>There is so much hysteria going on about it and more than a little fact twisting. The perfect example is all the noise about how many people will lose health care coverage as a result of Obamacare. The main reason is their health care plans do not meet the minimum standard set by the ACA. That's why the insurers continue to squeal like pigs stuck under a gate.
>>
>>I would suggest that it is more the INSURED who are squealing when they are forced by the government to purchase insurance that contains coverage they neither need nor want at a much higher premium. Using automobiles as another example - if the government did the same thing we would all be required to purchase high end GMC vehicles or Cadillacs even though their mid-range Chevy or used Oldsmobile were fine for their needs. These other autos would be declared "not meeting the minimum standard" while the real reason for the decree would be an attempt to garner enough cash to provide everyone with a car - and for far too many, a FREE car.
>>
>>All it would take is the government deciding for us that transportation by automobile is a fundamental right. They would even claim that this decision "promotes the general welfare" in an attempt to give it "founding father cred." What is next - five-bladed razors for all? I mean seriously - have you seen the number of poor citizens who can't afford to shave??

>>Oh well. Happy Thanksgiving!

>I believe you are mistaken about the effective date. We are in the enrollment period now. Health coverage can start January 1.

Go read it. It is a 900+ page bill with dozens of dates. If all you can do is parse "coverage vs enrollment" in the face of the rest of the argument, it is a very weak position!
