The grandfathering (now extended in other areas as well) was intended to allow this to be true. Consider the possibility for a moment that he believed what he said rather than telling a whopper lie that he must have known would be revealed.

John, this is actually far simpler than that...

It's been established/documented as far back as 2010 that the White House was aware that telling this whopper of a lie would be just that, a whopper of a lie. His policy people advised him not to play the "if you like your plan, you can keep it" line, but his political consultants told him to stick with the line. Guess which side won.

The White House even has estimates on the # of small businesses that will be forced to give up their plans. I agree 100% with Phil Thomas - let's wait several months and see the REAL damage that will occur. And we haven't even gotten to the doctor shortage yet.

This was the granddaddy of all lies - because he repeated it at least 23 times, often beginning with his "let me be clear" introduction. He can't claim victim status on this one - he can't pin this on insurance companies. This was HIS plan and HIS lie.

Remember, this is a man who, after blowing away billions on a largely-failed stimulus plan, CHUCKLED when saying, "I guess the shovel-ready jobs weren't so shovel-ready". Nice that a man who advocates smart government can be so cavalier about failure. This is a man whose administration attempted to blow off gross negligence in Benghazi and made a mockery of the entire situation. Obama's credibility with U.S. citizens is plummeting - in part because he can't own up to anything, without finding some way to blame it on the R's. I never liked George Bush very much, but he's actually making me long for a George Bush president. That's how low the bar is right now.
