Lying to facilitate the slaughtering of several hundred thousand innocent people and the crippling of the US economy for decades seems fairly important to me.

I note that the repubs in congress sought to impeach Slick Willy for denying that he stained a lady's dress, but none seemed too perturbed over W's brand of mendacity.

I am assuming you are referring to Bush. Correct if I'm wrong but I'm assuming you mean Bush and Iraq.

There is no proof that Bush "lied" to Americans on WMDs in Iraq. You are assuming there is evidence that Bush KNEW there were NO WMDs, but told American people otherwise.

Now - history shows that the intelligence was largely bad. No question whatsoever.

However, remember a couple of things. First, different European intelligence communities also reported that Hussein had WMDs. Bush was not alone in the claim.

Also, the U.S. military DID discover plans in Iraqi warehouses for WMD plans. One can make the argument that they were maybe 5 years behind where we thought they were. (I'm not saying I fully believe that, but I don't think one can dispute it either). The U.S. military has also reported that Iraq diverted what little WMDs they had to Syria and Russia about 6 months before we attacked (and there are others who dispute that report as well).

The entire situation, in retrospect, was a mess. But I challenge anyone to demonstrate that Bush had knowledge of zero WMDs and attacked anyway. There is a difference between bad intelligence and lying.

There are arguments others make about the Iraqi war....Hussein offering $$$ to families of Palestinian suicide bombers, continued torture of political dissidents in Northern Iraq, seizing money intended for foreign aide, violating the original sanctions by trading on the Russian black market, and providing financial support to Al Q training camps in Indonesia. I personally have a hard time arguing these days "for" the Iraq war - Hussein deserved what he got, but we would have been better off with a larger troop surge at the very beginning, instead of Rumsfeld's "small ball".

On Clinton...I'll refresh your memory. Clinton instructed others to lie.

I still maintain Obama's lie is the granddaddy of them all - because of the # of times he repeated the context, where there is now overwhelming evidence of what the White House was debating over three years ago about what message to tell the American public. Had this come to light prior to Nov 2012, we'd be looking at a different president.
