If I'm driving drunk and wipe out a school bus I'll be judged one way- vehicular homicide or maybe even murder.
If I coast to a stop and fall asleep at the side of the road while soused, I'll be judged in an entirely different way- maybe a suspended license or even just a summons.

Same offense- DUI- different consequence.

Of course consequences matter, Kevin!

Not in the case of perjury and obstruction of justice. Not in a court of law. They absolutely do not, Bill.

One of the things that concerns me here is this cavalier attitude towards the entire concept of common law legal systems and the responsibilities of officers of the court. HE LIED UNDER OATH. Repeat....HE LIED UNDER OATH. He also instructed others to lie. You can't have a legal system (and you can't be a reputable chief executive) if you decide whether a transgression is worth telling the truth about. Sure, killing someone is a billion times more serious than stealing a pack of gum (or have a stupid extra-marital affair), but once in a position where truth is required, one shouldn't get to decide whether telling the truth is important or not.

I mentioned before that Hillary was fired from her position during the Watergate era, because she was one of a handful of attorneys who sought to interfere with Nixon's attempts to seek legal counsel. No matter what people think about Nixon, he had rights under the Constitution to seek counsel. This is the problem I have with the Clintons in general - they justify their illegal/unconstitutional actions through rationalization of "the big picture". I personally don't think much of Hillary - she's clever but truthfully not what I would consider overly intelligent. Bill Clinton is a brilliant man - but a man whose actions have tarnished his achievements because he grossly disrespected the office he held.
