OK, I've got it narrowed down.

First, I totally agree with the containership clicking paradigm. That's not my issue. Let me restate after having monkeyed around a bit more.

Add a grid. Remove the text box from column1 and replace with an image. Assign a picture to the image. Add mouseup/down event code to both the grid and the image. (I put in Thisform.caption = Thisform.caption + "*"). Now, run the form. Click on a cell (other than the one you are on). The code does NOT run. Go to the debugger and turn event tracing on to track mouseup/down. Click on some more cells. You will see that the grid mouse events fire, but not the image mouse events. (If anybody can't reproduce this, please let me know.)

This is at the heart of my attempts to get a clean drag and drop working for grids. I didn't get any help when I got stuck there, so I've backed off and am just trying to understand the basic event model for the grid.

>No, control.click should fire, but grid.click not. That's the rule.

>>OK, good advice. But, then my question becomes: what happens to my mouse click as I click from cell to cell? Am I to assume that the user can click the mouse and there will not be a mouseclick event generated? That sounds pretty bogus to me!
