>To address the point: everybody who cared to look, knew that lousy policies could not survive the ACA. Pre-existing and other exclusions and big deductibles no longer are allowed. However, and in no small part to thwart Republican Chicken-Littles, there was a Grandfather period so people who want to keep a lousy policy, can. A reasonable person would expect that while mom and pop may be anxious about keeping their jalopy, once they realize they could have a new Chevvy for similar cost, they no longer want the Jalopy. People now insist that Obama knew that insurers would repossess the Jalopy without offering the Chevvy first. I'm not prepared to suspend disbelief enough to believe that he did it.

John, who defines what is a "lousy policy?"

All of a sudden, there are 2 highly questionable contexts....the convenient and expedient notion of "lousy policies", and the notion of blaming all the cancellations on insurance companies. I don't have many kind words to say on insurance companies, but this is what I mean about Obama using more of a fascist concept towards economic controls instead of outright socialism. He and Kathleen S. give private companies just enough room to be able to turn around and point the finger at them afterwards. I can't help if you're not able to either see or acknowledge this.
