Hi Jim
Did you consider using A3 ? (Will help also visual recognition on those piles)
Also, eliminate L/R margins on A4. It might help you squeeze one extra character where otherwise would not fit.
Another tip would be to try with some mono spaced font whereas you can avoid measuring size and have more predictable
results.
