I have yet to see a guide specifically about using API calls within VFP; i rely heavily on the documentation on the Platform SDK in the MSDN Help (it comes with an MSDN subscription, as well as with Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise, and is available through MSDN On-line as well.
I also rely heavily on a couple of really good references targeted at C++ and VB programmers; the C/C++ book is
Windows NT WIN32 API Superbible published by the Waite Group (ISBN 1-57169-089-1); another good source with a VB flavor is
Visual Basic Programmer's Guide to the Win32 API published by PC Magazine (ISBN 1-56276-287-7). If you aren't familiar with C, it's probably more accessible.
Your best source is an MSDN subscription. It's detailed and accurate, but doesn't approach things from a VFP point of view.
