>Default install folder for databases is in the Program Files folder. I always put my databases in a \Data folder. It's solved lots of rights issues and gets data out of Program Files, where it doesn't belong.

Likewise, I have a folder called x:\sqldb\data and everything goes there (on a SSD nowadays). A few times I tried to just inherit the databases from the previous version of the SQL and it just never worked, because I didn't get the names in the folder structure right. To my horror, I discovered that master.mdb contains absolute paths to the databases. So... if/when I get the next version of SQL, I'll rather try to repointer it to the old databases, instead of trying to move them where it thinks they should be.

Imagine how much would Fox be badmouthed if we had to migrate databases with every new version of it? I can still open dbcs created with 5.0, and dbfs created with mfoxplus 2.1, 25 years ago, without a hitch.
