I mean no disrespect to your father, but Judaism permits divorce, always has. From http://www.jewfaq.org/divorce.htm:

I was not speaking about religious permissions. I was speaking about a cultural frame of mind. I do believe that in his mind, divorce was never an option because of the way he was raised.

I am sorry that your parents were so unhappy together and that it led your father to take his life.

My father pre-deceased my mother by 17 years. I can still remember being at the cemetery when we buried her. I swear, I thought I could hear my father from his grave saying "I had peace and quiet for 17 years and now I am going to have to listed to your vorching again ". I wonder if this was what Sartre meant by "No Exit".
