There could be criminal charges on the way, and they might loosen some tongues.

It's inconceivable that they did this without his knowledge.
He's the consummate political arm twister.
He can tell you how many votes he got in Hamilton in the last election, who supported him here and who didn't.

Like Nixon in 1972, he had this election in the bag, but was trying for a record winning margin and anyone who thwarted him was fair game.
