That said, I suspect that personality does play into the voting, since the writers get to know these guys over time. For that matter, I guess some off-the-field stuff should count. For example, given two otherwise identical players, if one also was a clubhouse leader, or an integral member of the community (through charitable involvement or working with kids or similar stuff), I'd rank that one ahead of the one who wasn't.

FYI, I wrote the above before reading down-thread. I was pretty sure who the three were, but not what order. (Guess I should have picked out Maddux based on wins, but I didn't really look at win-less, since it doesn't mean as much as ERA or WHIP.)
