I did read last night that Wheeler and Matthews will be gone. I have mixed feelings. I did not like listening to Wheeler (and I'm a bit biased because of how he tried to undercut Kalas and Ashburn years ago). But I liked Sarge.

I agree, Franzke and Anderson are good. Franzke is much better than Tom McCarthy, though for some reason the execs seem to like Tom M.

Philadelphia sports fans have been blessed with great announcers over the years - specifically Harry Kalas for the Phils and Gene Hart/Jim Jackson for the Flyers. I have problems with Merrill Reese and I think he's overrated as a radio announcer. He'd be a good TV announcer, but he often fails to give the more complete description that a radio announcer needs to provide.
