>>>I did read that Schilling will be the lead ESPN baseball analyst on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball telecasts.

>>Reminds me that I'm wondering who'll be the Phils new color guy on TV. I'm so glad they dumped Wheeler and Matthews; I was saying all last year that they should. If they'd been properly synched, I would have watched with the TV muted and the Franzke/Anderson radio broadcast instead.

>I did read last night that Wheeler and Matthews will be gone. I have mixed feelings. I did not like listening to Wheeler (and I'm a bit biased because of how he tried to undercut Kalas and Ashburn years ago). But I liked Sarge.

I appreciated Sarge the first year or two, when I felt that he talked about things the others didn't. But over time, either he had nothing new to say or I found what he had to say less interesting.

>I agree, Franzke and Anderson are good. Franzke is much better than Tom McCarthy, though for some reason the execs seem to like Tom M.

Just read that Franzke wants to stay on radio, so he'd be able to call a World Series.

>Philadelphia sports fans have been blessed with great announcers over the years - specifically Harry Kalas for the Phils and Gene Hart/Jim Jackson for the Flyers. I have problems with Merrill Reese and I think he's overrated as a radio announcer. He'd be a good TV announcer, but he often fails to give the more complete description that a radio announcer needs to provide.
