As far as I'm concerned, Schilling's post season numbers alone should get him in. I don't see how any pitcher can be that much of a force in the games that really count, and not be in it. When a guy comes through that well in the crunches, he deserves it. And I'm not saying that just because the Jays won in spite of him (or the fact that he's a Republican).

Ha, he's not a Republican, he's a RINO (Republican in name only). Getting $75 million in bonds from a tiny state isn't exactly my idea of an entrepreneur. :)

But yes, his post-season record was awesome. And truthfully, it "should" be 13-2. In the 1993 NLCS, he took leads of 3-2 and 3-0 into the 9th innings of Games 1 and 5, only to see Mitch Williams (whose arm was beyond tired) lose the leads (Phils won both games in extra innings but obviously Schilling got no-decisions in both)

What disturbs me the most is the low vote %. Both last year and this year, he didn't even crack 40%. I wish I were in a position to ask the voters why.

And of course, you had to bring up the Jays. :)
That was painful. When the Phils manager pulled Larry Anderson late in game 6 (who was still very crafty) and brought in Mitch, I knew it was over. Mitch was a gamer and gave it everything he could, but he had lost so much velocity by the end of the season.
