Mike, I know you're a big college hoops fan, and I'm sure you know the Ohio State senior named Aaron Craft. I'm not a Big-10 fan and I always root against the Buckeyes, but I have to admit that Craft has more than earned his last name. He's one of the craftiest players in the NCAA.

Well, there's another guy out there who reminds me of Craft - Wichita State's Freddie VanVleet. This kid is just amazing. He's a 5"11 sophomore guard, very strong, uncanny instincts, darts around like a bumblebee, and very explosive. Creates offensive opportunites out of seemingly nothing. I watch him and I instantly think of Craft. I'm told that the team's radio announcers will shout out, "Fred-EX....VanVleet delivers!!!" when VanVleet hits a big shot. He even reminds me of Steve Nash.

With Wisconsin losing this week, Wichita State (now 18-0) will likely move up to #4 in the polls on Monday. The MVC is very competitive, and I doubt they'll run the table the rest of the way. But they have become a force. They're very well-rounded.

I started paying serious attention to the Missouri Valley Conference about three years ago, and rooted for Wichita State once KU got knocked out last year. Most of their key players from last year's run are still on the team this year, and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if they reach the final four. They are unlike any college team I've ever seen - an ESPN analyst described them as the most intense team in the country, and that when they smell blood, they go for the kill. If they wind up playing KU in the tournament, I'm going to have a tough time watching.
