Will it do him (Obama) any harm? Not likely.

This notion of "being honest" with the young has become a veneer, an intellectual fog behind which one plays cynical games. It's rooted in the same reason he can go on pop-TV shows and get away with claims.

As I said, if they want to make pot legal for adults, fine. But his statements about pot being "no worse" are bad science. And that's my major issue (and an issue with people in his own agencies)

You have Rs making rather ridiculous claims that have biological/reproductive/evolutionary considerations (e.g. the idiotic "justifiable rape" comment last year), and they are branded as backwards and anti-science (usually with good reason). This one, while a bit more subtle, is just as bad and just as dishonest.

It's the same kind of dishonesty that puts out the pretext that every global warming claim is true, and that any offer of alternative viewpoints is immediately nothing more than psychological denial.

On the conclusion that "taking it away" will take away one of the channels to hard drugs - I realize that's probably a majority opinion, but I think it's very open to debate on pathways to other ramifications, and none of them positive.
