Unfortunately (or fortunately), the show is completely different from the books. We watched the first 5 seasons or so, and then just lost interest in it. I've read some of the books and really enjoyed them also, but it doesn't take more than 10 pages to realize that you're dealing with a completely different setup and environment from the show. In a lot of ways, I find myself wishing that they HAD made the books into the TV show, but realistically, I doubt a show about a 40-something forensic pathologist going between the US and French speaking Canada would hold the interest of the all-important, all-buying 18-49 demographic.
