Just to play devil's advocate - while a few places do this, it's quite difficult. Some of the venues/locations have sketchy/unreliable high speed access. If there are any technical glitches, the person has to address them immediately, and that might irritate the people who are physically attending.

Also remember that people who run user group meetings are doing it with little or no compensation, so they have to balance that time with their work and family schedules. Sometimes it's not done simply because the person just does not have the time to do it.

I agree it would be great - and I've personally re-recorded some of my top user group presentations as webcasts so that people can see them - but sometimes it's just more than what a personal can realistically handle.
