But I actually regret saying it. It was rude, something I try not to be.
So, let me retract that and say something different.
Rick, in my 25 years in the Fox community, I have spent tens of thousands of hours in community service--writing articles, preparing for and presenting at conferences and user groups, editing FoxPro Advisor, running SWFox, running my local user group, and probably some other things I haven't thought of. Yes, I have been paid something (or reimbursed my expenses) for some of these things. However, none of them ever covered the value of the time I took away from my clients, my family and the community I live in (where I have also donated thousands or tens of thousands of hours).
I was raised to believe that I should leave the world and each part of it that I touch better than I found it. I try to live my life that way. Your assertion that the way I do so is selfish and inadequate reflects only your own warped views of generosity.
