In America it doesn't. That's why its called the American dream.

Up until recently Tunisia, Egypt and a few of those countries had a problem. It was actually a business license dispute that sparked the Arab Spring (a spark that light the tinder pile known as poverty in the Arab world).

"The catalyst for the current escalation of protests was the self-immolation of Tunisian Mohamed Bouazizi. Unable to find work and selling fruit at a roadside stand, on 17 December 2010, a municipal inspector confiscated his wares. An hour later he doused himself with gasoline and set himself afire."
