Another "reminds me": In Jewish law, farmers are required to leave the corners of the fields unharvested and to leave anything that drops during harvesting, all of for the poor to come and glean. The idea is two-fold: first, that you must give to the poor (which is actually true across the board, in Jewish law; even the poor are expected to give to the poorer), and second, that by letting the poor "harvest" it themselves, they have dignity.
