I am working with those at my regular job right now. They are at least mildly interested in the idea of using Visual FreePro in moving forward. They have over 20 years of FoxPro code that has been debugged, modified, extended, is working well, is well known to the developers, and is in use by hundreds of customers. Their plan before I came on board was to move to .NET or Java, but that is a massive rewrite of so many applications. My proposal to write Visual FreePro would require far less resources, but it is a type of "gamble" for them. They recognize that if I fail they will have thrown money into a sink hole. However, since I've come to work for them they've seen my skills, and continued progress on Visual FreePro, and have ceased their former plans and held back from moving forward to date. I also know the immediate developers I work with are desiring very much to have Visual FreePro (as they keep hearing me talk about it in much more detail than I've conveyed publicly, and they want to continue writing in a FoxPro-like language because it is so powerful).

So ... things are in progress, but nothing solid has been revealed. If any other companies out there would like to bind together and contribute toward the costs of developing Visual FreePro full-time, it may become doable. I ask each person to look within and see if such a pursuit is desirable given the number of projects and source code you have in Visual FoxPro. The 85% direct compatible code I mentioned previously, with 10% requiring some rewrite, is 100% of the features found in all the source code I've ever written. And, if there is enough need for something that I've done away with, it can be added back in.

I leave it in the hands of the One to whom it truly belongs, and to Whom I am giving my efforts, praying always, remembering always that prayer works, and that all things are possible for Him in that regard. To be sure, this project is a pursuit of applied faith. I pray to do my part as best I can, knowing that where I cannot succeed ... He can.
