I have never used Mere Mortals, so I can't speak about it. Funnily enough, to the best of my knowledge, the guys who wrote Strataframe originally used Mere Mortals for their VFP app before moving to .NET and writing their own framework <s>. You can tell that they were old VFP guys when you look at the framework code - lots of Hungarian Notation <g>.
