As west ignored quite a few things settled on after USSR breakup - like inviting former east block countries into NATO or EU - having Krim inhabitants vote for entering Russia will be hard to argue against. Interesting part will be to see if Putin wants to bite off more of Ukraine: the eastern provinces are probably 50/50 divided at the moment.
