Personally, I think we need to get the unions out of the schools and start implementing things like merit pay. That would be a good start. School vouchers are also a good idea - something that I notice the current mayor of NYC is trying to do away with (if he hasn't done so already) - perhaps he owes too much to the teachers' union?
