>“That’s an outstanding idea,” Councilman Ed Gore said today when told of the proposal. “Not having home night football games is probably the biggest disadvantage our schools have. The only time the kids get to play at night is during away games.”

>the biggest disadvantage our schools have??? no night football?????????
Our daughter spent her sixth grade in a school like that. The halls were lined with team photos, shelves of medals and cups, and not a single item anywhere was devoted to any other kind of achievement. No scientists' or artists' pictures, no kids' art nothing... the whole school was under dictatorship of sports. The one PTA meeting I attended there was devoted to a 5 minute general greeting, which included whole 2 minutes of the goals of the year's study, and was actually an introduction into the "we know we already have the basketball display but it's outdated and sometimes unreliable, which is really frustrating, and we really need a new one, but since our funds are somewhat limited"... the rest of the hour was advertising and give us your money.
