... and if I'm not mistaken, it was "invented" accidentally (i.e. the first recorded spamming incident was unintentional).

Speaking of E-mail related problems... I recall back when I was at university, on the Unix systems on-campus had a daemon (i.e. a computer program that runs as a background process, rather than being under the direct control of an interactive user) that would monitor the disc space. When the free space went below a certain threshold level, it would E-mail everyone -- informing that they should clean out any old files the don't need to make up more free space. Suffices to say, that this daemon would occasionally fill up the remaining free space with the E-mail it would send.
