I've also (for the past 20+ months) tried with passion to get people to help me develop a modern version of Visual FreePro, demonstrating my technical ability by developing the product out in the open with full source code. I have a virtual machine design that is like Java or .NET. I have a compiler framework which is like C#, but works with xbase code and will be extended to include a relaxed form of C/C++, compiling to either the virtual machine, or native hardware. I have a binary execution model which allows one executable per CPU (not per operating system). I have several extensions I've added to the xbase language to make it much more robust, more feature rich. And I have an entirely extensible design throughout that can be augmented with plugins in many cases, or by its design in software in other cases.

But with all of this effort, people have not helped me develop this product which would extend their VFP life ... and for the exact same reasons.

People do not want that which is most important to them ... they simply want what they want, and they chastise those of us who step up and point them to those things which are most important to them.

To be clear, this is the source of my sadness ... because from within my heart I truly do want what is best for people.

>Good job.
>Are there voices telling you to do that?

While non sequitur, to answer your question: There are no voices, but there are marching orders.

There are some things which are much more important than other things. This is a simple statement, of course, but if you really stop and think about it ... it comes with a profound associated realization (of such a kind that one might even say it's a "life changing" one).

Do you understand, Mike? 20+ months of devotion to you, and others, and not one person has stepped forward for this very reason. Why is that? Think about it.
