Maybe something in the form's init is changing the LEFT property of the control causing it to "jump to the left." (Sounds like a line from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.) Put a SET STEP ON in the on of the jumping control's INIT and try tracing the code moment it's instantiated ... maybe break on a change in the value of the LEFT property.
