There is a difference between saying "Sara Palin is an idiot" and ""I think Sara Palin is an idiot". One is stated as an opinion, the other is not.

>Hogwash. Political threads had many many statements which were stated as fact no less than Ricks. For example "Barack Obama is a socialist" or "Sara Palin is an idiot" etc etc.

>I admire anyone who stands up for their beliefs and/or opinions and is willing to defend them. Unlike some I know on this forum who freely express political views that are outrageous and even offensive to some, and then, when called on them, back off and refuse to pay up on bets <s>.

>>These are not technical subjects, but they don't create the problems and chaos religious posts do either. I think it all boils down to that everyone can agree that music is just a mater of personal taste - same with political things for the most part too... however the religious posts - I'd say it's obvious that there are those here who think their religion (or lack of) is not an opinion - to them it's a fact and thus all others are wrong. ...sooo needless to say that is going to cause big issues. At least with politics you can pick out things from all different systems that you like - with religion you don't have that option.
>>
>>>Perhaps we should also consider banning political discussions, music memories etc etc None of them are technical either.
