>I am not in agreement with that opinion and I don't think it's really appropriate to post that since the person to whom it applies cannot reply. For Rick, his belief is beyond reproach and therefore he will choose that over anything else, every time. He was challenged to remove his signature and that for him, realizing that request would be enforced, was enough to say "adios". For him to have removed it would have been a choice of a forum rule over what he believes and hence that challenge resulted in a totally predictable outcome the minute it was posted.

>The truth is that he posted his stuff in a specific category for that purpose. If anything, he was guilty of thread hijacking because every opportunity was taken to bring in a religious aspect. However, this was always done via linking to the further discussion in the appropriate forum. One could choose to go there or not. Or one could choose to use the twit filter which hides both posts-from and replies-to the person. Thread hijacking was the real issue and based on that I can think of quite a few people who would be in the banning line.

>Instead of banning a particular subject or forum the UT might have considered passing a rule that purposeful thread hijacking cannot be allowed since it dilutes the original thread purpose. Who will decide whether a particular off-topic post is purposeful thread hijacking or not? The UT management. That would have ended all hyper-linking to the religious section or elsewhere.

>Now we have this puerile discussion about whether we can say Merry Christmas or not. I'm beginning to think its time to head for the exits.

Please don't. We are on opposite sides of this particular issue but I have enjoyed your posts for a long time, ever since you lived at the other end of the world. Let's not make an already bad situation worse.
