I still like Windows 7 by far better than Windows 8 (we still do not have one client that we know of who likes Windows 8 better than XP or Windows 7). Depending on what you are doing, 32bit does have a couple advantages over the 64bit version - it uses the "Program Files" folder wherase the 64bit version uses "Program Files (x86) - in addition the 32bit version of Windows 7 will also run old 16bit software if you need that (such as to go back for whatever reason to use older programs like FPW 2.6x). I can't see no speed difference to speak of running a 64bit over the 32bit with an Intel I7 chip.

Now, if you are needing to run other more modern advanced programming languages (perhaps NET or Java, etc.) then you will want to consider a 64bit version of Windows 7. However, your question mentioned that the VFP apps were what you were concerned about.

>I currently have an XP, so I'll be buying a new pc very quickly. I've been advised to go to Win 7 instead of Win 8 as it's easier to learn.
>I want to make sure however that all my old VFP .exes will run on 7. Are there any problems in that regard? Also, which version of 7 is recommended?
>Home Premium? And what about 32 vs 64 bit? Any problem running the exes on either?
