Move to 8.1 64 bit Pro. The Metro stuff can easaly be skipped. VFP needs small adjustments, but that's one time. Hyper V is great. (Your old sys may run for a while there. )
Fastest CPU, as much RAM and and SSD (
This requires good backup, data recovery from any FLASH is a pain, if possible) as you can afford. If you still stuck on XP it will last for an eternity, so it is not wasted :) , Hyper-V -great for development- profits much.
I have a silent grafics card that can output two digital screens on 1920*1200 resolution.
ESATA and USB 3 as much as one can get.
No RAID on the comp, thats on the server. To noisy.
I favor a 4 letter company for its brilliant support if something is broken. Have used it multiple times in the last 10 years, was worth the money. Systems are commonly not the all-in-one wonder with endless IO but reasonable assembled.
