But, from Internet Explorer, I am loosing the Open option when clicking on a download which sends me a XML file and just have the Save as option. If I do not assign this default program, it will allow me to open it directly. This is what which seems to have changed in Windows 8.1 Can you confirm me if in Windows 7, from Internet Explorer, when downloading a XML file that you also have the Open option?


In Win7, clicking on an xml link opens the xml in internet explorer

Right clicking on an xml link gives the option 'Save Target as' which allows saving the xml contents to a file
