I'll tell you who else deserves punishment - those who knew about Gosnell and chose to look the other way. That includes Planned Parenthood.

And speaking of national news - much of the mainstream media ignored the Gosnell case for as long as they could. Ironically, it was Kirsten Powers (a pro-choice moderate liberal who does a couple of syndicated columns and also works at Fox) who covered the case, and ripped the Washington Post and MSNBC for their lame responses on why the weren't covering it.

Gosnell didn't get to be Gosnell on his own - he had help, help in the form of denial and tacit approval. I have yet to see ONE pro-choice liberal stand up and say, "you know what, we are culpable here, we knew this man was a butcher and we didn't say anything, and this is partly our fault".

In the first trimester I agree that abortion is generally very safe. However, even proponents acknowledge that complications become a little more of a factor as you get further into the second trimester.
