We were happily running SMB2 without issues, until someday a net admin playing with policies screw something up, which had the immediate effect of giving us a lot of problems with FoxPro tables, programs would run fine for a while and then they would get errors like "error reading file" "invalid seek offset" and what-not, so we setup a small network to try to figure this out and forcing SMB1 fixed the issue, but it did not explain why we did not have this issues before, but knowing that there has been a change in the policies we started comparing and we found out that by disabling the "Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (always)" the issue was solved, since then we had no more troubles (and yes, we read the warnings about disabling this)
