>Much appreciate this guidance, which for years has worked well for me on desktops with attached USB cameras and on laptops with built-in webcams. But in adapting my apps for a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet, WM_CAP_SET_PREVIEW always yields an all-black preview window, regardless of whether it’s the front or rear camera that's been selected using WM_CAP_DLG_VIDEOSOURCE. I figure I've successfully connected to the camera, since starting the preview activates the tablet's camera status light and WM_CAP_GET_VIDEOFORMAT returns image dimensions of 448H/252W. No luck seeing anything in the preview window using a commercial Active-X video capture control either. Anyone else been successful with Windows 8 tablet camera access?
It might for security purposes default to some kind of privacy mode, and you need to be in normal mode.
